Camera Lesson One

During our first camera lesson we used a Sony NX5, a low-grade professional camera.
We started with setting up the tripod and securing the camera on it. In order for the camera to be balanced, we had to"bubble" the tripod. Later in the lesson, as we were inspecting the camera, we learnt the reasons behind the endless buttons. For example  we learned the use of white balancing the camera  (it adjusts to the type of artificial light in the room). It was achieved by placing a white piece of paper in front of the camera, zooming on it and then pressing the white balance button. Another important task we did was how to put the battery and memory card in. Later we learned to focus, for that we had to zoom in on the scene we want to record, adjust the focus dial and then zoom out to a clear shot. The camera uses fifty shots per second usually, which is the most natural setting.
