Opening Sequences Homework
“The Girl with the
Dragon Tattoo” film by David Fincher
Info
-
The film
is represented by two huge production companies such: Columbia Pictures and
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures as well as by Scott Rubin Productions and Yellow
Bird Films. By observing that “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” film involved
four production companies, I can tell that this film had big budget and was
expensive to make.
-
The film
has big stars starring like the two leading actors Daniel Craig and Rooney
Mara. During the opening sequence, in
total eight actors were mentioned.
-
The film was directed by highly acclaimed
David Fincher
-
It was
produced by Scott Rubin
-
The film
was based on the popular Swedish novel “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” that
was written by Stieg Larsson.
-
Music by
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Action
-
From the
beginning of the opening sequence, the mood is set as the audience sees the
freaky and dark objects being filled with black ooze. This makes the opening
sequence very powerful and unforgettable.
-
Black ooze was placed into every scene. It unifies the
sequence.
-
The director picks out general and
specific moments from the book trilogy that are demonstrated visually. Those
moments are: a pressed flower, wasps, the instruments of hacking, main
character’s Lisbeth Salander’s father being set on fire and the dragon alluded
to in the title.
-
Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” was a
spooky opening soundtrack. It gave a feeling of fundamental-ooze fever dream.
-
The opening sequence also has 3-D scans
of principal actors Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig to add more edginess and style
to the opening sequence.
